In May 2018, Greece made its presence felt in Madrid when two Greek institutions participated in the internationally recognized UEFA Elite Club Injury Study. It was a moment that marked the recognition of Greek expertise in the field of sports medicine.

The Greek Representation

On May 30, 2018, in Madrid, Greece was represented by:

  • Olympiakos Piraeus- As the only Greek team in the study
  • Metropolitan Hospital- As the only Greek hospital in the research

Dr. Christos Theos, who at that time served as the team doctor for Olympiakos and Director of the Orthopedic Department at Metropolitan Hospital, was the main representative of this significant initiative.

The Research Focus

The study focused on critical issues of modern sports medicine:

Prevention and treatment of injuries in professional football, aiming to improve athlete safety and reduce recovery time.

Continuation in Barcelona

The Greek presence was not limited to Madrid alone. From June 2-4, 2018, the research continued in Barcelona, within the framework of the 27th Isokinetic Medical Group Conference, where the first results and future prospects were presented.
