Mr Christos Theos, MD, MSc, is an orthopaedic surgeon based in Athens, Greece, currently serving as the Director of the Orthopaedic Clinic at Iatriko Kentro in Paleo Faliro, Athens, and Head of Medical Staff at Olympiacos FC. He worked as an Orthopaedic Surgeon and Director of the Sports Injuries Department at Metropolitan Hospital in Neo Faliro from 2004 until June 2025. He holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and a European Master in Disaster Medicine (MSc-EMDM).

Mr Theos is a certified Course Director for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) under the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and collaborates scientifically with the 1st Orthopaedic Clinic of the University of Athens at Attiko Hospital. He also lectures in the postgraduate Master’s program titled “International Health Crisis - Disaster Medicine” at the University of Athens.

He holds medical responsibility and serves as the referring surgeon for several sports clubs, including Olympiacos FC, the Santorini Women’s Volleyball Team, the Athinaikos Women’s Basketball Team, and the Athens-Kallithea FC Football Club.

He is also the Director and Instructor of the educational program at Attikon University Hospital, dedicated to final-year medical students of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, focusing on Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Emergency Medicine. Additionally, he teaches in the corresponding program for nurses (Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses – ATCN).

He has specialized in Greece and abroad (scholarship training program on orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery, funded by the Stavros S. Niarchos Foundation, in New York, NY, USA, for a period of 8 years from 2007 until 2014) in sports injuries surgery, knee, hip, and shoulder arthroplasty. He is also a certified surgeon in modern robotic surgery for knee and hip arthroplasty (Robotic Orthopaedic Surgery - MAKO).

Olympic & Sports Medicine Experience

He served as the chief medical officer and venue medical manager at the Panathenaic Stadium during the 2004 Olympic Games, overseeing the sports of archery and both the men’s and women’s marathon events.

From 2011 to 2023, Mr Theos led the medical team of Olympiacos Piraeus FC. Since July 2025 he is again the Head of the medical team of Olympiacos FC.

Clinical Interests

His clinical interests encompass hip and knee arthroplasty, robotic joint replacement using the MAKO system by Stryker, shoulder and elbow surgery, sports medicine, and trauma care. He is proficient in various life support protocols, including ATLS, Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Chief Emergency Physician (CEP), Advanced Life Support (ALS), and Advanced Pediatric Life Support (APLS).

Scientific Activity

Throughout his career, Mr Theos has participated in numerous national and international conferences, seminars, and courses, presenting significant papers from his department. His major focus areas include general orthopaedics, sports medicine, trauma care and surgery, and emergency medicine.
